Lilian N. Blankson was born and raised in New York to parents from Ghana, West Africa. She holds a BA in English, and an MFA in Creative Writing & Literature. Her thesis, an exceptional collection of poetry and short stories, afforded her the
prestigious Graduate Award while graduating with highest honors.

Lilian has had an amazing 15 year career at Black Entertainment Television Networks, a Viacom Company. Her journey with BET began with the Sports, Specials & Primetime Division where she quickly learned from ground up her way around television production and the entertainment business overall. As the Senior

Manager of Specials, she single handedly oversaw the balloting process for the BET Awards, Hip-Hop Awards and the Comedy Awards in addition to producing all the logistics behind all of the network’s mega specials while working directly with A-List artistes worldwide.

In January of 2008, Blankson was hand-picked to assist in the launch and operation of BET Network’s International channel in the UK, Ireland, Africa and the Middle East. Her strategic ability to equally encompass both her American and African roots made her a perfect candidate for the role.

During her tenure with BET International, she performed a variety of roles: Director of Programming & Production, TV Director, Writer & Producer, Director of Talent Relations, and Consultant for African Programming.

In 2013, she created, directed and produced a new entertainment series entitled, Spotlight for BET International. This music driven interview show featured an array of A-List entertainers from Nigeria & Ghana. She has also written and produced most of the Welcome to America series for BET International which featured artists such as Estelle, D’Banj, 2Face Idibia, VV Brown, Corinne Bailey Rae, and many

Lilian departed from BET International in 2013 and transitioned to BET’s Business & Legal Affairs Division where she currently holds the role of Rights & Clearance Analyst and Administrator of Music & Third Party Content, Publishing & Research.

In June of 2010, Blankson launched her first book, Rain Love Poetry & Portraits, which has been sold throughout the US, the UK, Ghana, and Nigeria.
